1. Initial Editorial Screening
Every submission is first assessed by the editorial team to ensure that:
- it complies with the journal’s submission guidelines,
- it fits the journal’s aims and scope,
- it is written in acceptable academic English,
- it contains no identifying information to preserve the integrity of the double‑blind review.
All manuscripts are checked using plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. Submissions that fail to meet basic quality, relevance, or ethical standards may be rejected at this stage.
2. Double‑Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated by at least two independent reviewers. Both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
Reviewers receive the title and abstract of the manuscript and an invitation to access the full submission through the Littera Scripta online system or email. Reviewers may:
- accept the invitation,
- decline the invitation,
- decline and recommend alternative qualified reviewers.
Reviewers provide detailed comments, constructive feedback, and a recommendation (accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject). Their evaluations must be objective, evidence‑based, and free from personal bias.
3. Editorial Assessment and Verification
If the peer‑review reports recommend acceptance or revision, an academic editor conducts an additional editorial review, which includes:
- verification of data sources,
- fact‑checking of references,
- assessment of methodological clarity,
- evaluation of the manuscript’s contribution to the field.
Academic editors may actively verify cited sources to ensure accuracy and proper contextual use, including cross‑language checks where relevant. This step reflects the journal’s commitment to preventing plagiarism, redundant publication, and academic dishonesty.
If plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission, or any form of research misconduct is detected at any stage, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. Authors may be prohibited from submitting to the journal for up to one year. For details, see the Littera Scripta Ethics Statement.
4. Revision Process
If revisions are required, authors will receive anonymized reviewer comments and editorial guidance. Authors must submit the revised manuscript within 30 days. Failure to resubmit within this period will result in the manuscript being declined, and any later submission will be treated as a new submission.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for re‑evaluation, depending on the extent of the changes.
5. Final Decision
The final publication decision is made by the Editor‑in‑Chief or the designated Guest Editor, taking into account:
- reviewer reports,
- editorial assessment,
- the quality and completeness of revisions,
- compliance with ethical and scholarly standards.
Decisions are final and communicated to authors through the journal’s editorial system.
